NCG Soup mends broken hearts

New Covent Garden Food Co. create Ltd Ed’ February Soup of the Month in support of the charity's 50th anniversary appeal.

For most people, the biggest perceived threat to their hearts at this time of year is the pain of not receiving that longed-for Valentine's card from the office Romeo ....however there is a more serious side to heart health this month.

February is National Heart Month and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) has joined
forces with New Covent Garden Food Co. to create a Ltd Ed’ February Soup of the Month - Heart Warming Soup: Tomato, Chunky Vegetable & Lentil, to help raise £10,000 for the
charity.

Following the success of an inaugural partnership in 2010, which saw sales of NCG’s February Soup of the Month raise vital funds for the BHF, 2011 will see the brand support the charity’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, which is one of the BHF’s most
ambitious and far-reaching projects ever. Its goal is simple; to fund the research that could begin to literally ‘mend broken hearts’ in as little as ten year’s time.

In devising the new recipe for Heart Warming Soup, the dedicated chefs at NCG
have worked hard to create a steaming bowl of goodness, containing juicy plum
tomatoes, peppers, courgettes and celery, plus lentils. What’s more, the soup is a
very tasty way towards getting your five-a-day, and also scores green across the
board for fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt using the traffic light labelling system.

Kate Shanley, Director of the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal at the BHF, said: “Help
give hope to millions by supporting the BHF’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, either
by purchasing the New Covent Garden Food Co.’s Heart Warming Soup this February
or visiting bhf.org.uk/mbh to find out how you can get involved.”

New Covent Garden Food Co.’s Heart Warming Soup will be available in
supermarkets and independent retailers nationwide during February 2011, priced at
£1.99. Visit www.newcoventgardenfood.com for further details of NCG’s fresh soup
range, innovative recipe books and ‘Shape up with Soup’ diet plan.
